happy

adjective – feeling or showing pleasure or contentment

I don’t like being serious all the time. Sometimes I read back through my posts and think “Man, I gotta get a bigger sense of humor.” It’s not that I’m a Debbie Downer, but sometimes my thoughts tend to linger more on the pensive side of life. While surfing the web today, I came across a blog or a quote or a tweet or something that was a list of what makes this blogger, or quoter, or tweeter happy. And I thought it would be a great idea to focus on the happy elements of life — at least for me. So here goes….

Happiness: A List

Laughter
from the lips of a loved one be it friend or family;

Christmas
festivities donned in twinkles and gifts
And oh, oh, oh the music;

Cookies
mixing, baking,
melting divinely on the tongue,
but warming the heart;

Sharpened pencils
coupled with a pristine notebook
slow dancing to words
that might change lives;

Dinner
with family, at the table,
drowning in laughter
not even struggling to come up for air;

Libraries
unchartered shelves weighted with
plotted twists turning my world,
improving my Character;

Friendship
cozy comfort of being known and
loved by others not required to,
choosing me to share this life;

Quiet hours
a solitary serendipity
moments for Me
to remember I am.

A Creator
designing my days
purpose-filled, eternal weight
in spite of myself.
